4dayweek.io
A job board for four-day weeks, nine-day fortnights and other reduced-hours jobs.
One of our own products: we designed it, built it and run it. What we did: design, build and hosting, the job pipeline, search, and an AI service that reads job ads. Founded by Phil in December 2020.

What it is
4dayweek.io lists jobs with a four-day week, a nine-day fortnight or other reduced hours, for people who want them and employers who offer them.
Jobs arrive from company job boards all day, so the hard part is not the website: it is reading thousands of job ads accurately, keeping the list current and making every job easy to search by salary, location and schedule.
What we built
A job pipeline
A collector that reads more than 1,300 company job boards, and a processor that runs six times a day and checks that every job link still works.
An AI service that reads job ads
It pulls the salary (base pay only), the location and whether the job is remote, hybrid or on site, the schedule, skills and seniority out of each ad, and translates ads that aren't in English.
Search and landing pages
Search across every job by schedule, salary and location, and pages generated for the searches people make.
Paid plans and an API
Subscriptions through Stripe, a public API and a read-only connector for AI assistants.
How it's kept working
The parts of the engineering a customer never sees, and the reason it keeps running.
- Two AI providers, each the other's fallback, and an alert if more than a quarter of requests fall back.
- A set of golden tests run against the real models before any prompt, model or provider change goes live.
- A salary guard that drops implausible figures before they are shown or stored.
- Personal details are scrubbed from error reports in the browser, the web server and the API.
